  1. Wrote web exclusives for texasmonthly.com. Observed and learned the different roles that each of the staff members of the magazine fulfill to keep it running smoothly. Transcribed audio clips for writers, as well as archives dating back to 1973, when Texas Monthly was first printed. Successfully performed intern duties such as fact-checking and researching, attended monthly editorial meetings, and pitched story ideas.

  1. Developed unique online content for the site and created a daily blog series called The day in music news. Provided in-the-field reporting on several breaking news stories. Assisted with a variety of day-to-day tasks that included linking, cropping photographs, uploading video, music and other supporting material to accompany blog posts. Started a new series and remained as a contributor.

  1. Corrected stylistic errors and verified accuracy of facts before printing stories. Advised students on generating story ideas, writing techniques, maintaining relationships with sources, and more. Acted as a leader and covered assignments as a reporter as well. Established communication with different departments to expand coverage of the section.

  1. Contributed to the magazine’s credibility by verifying the accuracy of its facts before publishing. Trained to edit/fact-check stories and cold-call sources. Wrote blurbs for the events guide at a steady rate, and longer pieces when opportunities arose. Gained editorial freedom and exposure to the workings and deadlines of a city magazine.
